ABOUT: ROCKET RACER

Rocket Racer

The first generation Rocket RacerŽ vehicles are single-pilot vehicles built on proven airframe technology, which uses a standard airframe built by Rocket Racing, Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary Velocity Aircraft. The airframes are taken from the standard assembly and modified slightly for conversion to rocket power. The airframes are derivation of the very popular Velocity XL and SE models, both available under a piston-powered option for those who wish to own and fly the very same airframe that is used by pilots of the Rocket Racing LeagueŽ. First generation Rocket RacerŽ vehicles will be capable of up to four minutes of rocket burn and in excess of 12 - 15 minutes of un-powered (glide) flight, forcing teams and pilots to strategize and carefully plan the course between pit stops.

Each Rocket RacerŽ vehicle is equipped with an integrated 1,500 - 2,500 pound thrust rocket engine burning liquid oxygen (LOX) and Kerosene or Ethanol. fuels and plume additives color the 15 foot plume trailing the rockets in colors of crimson red, green, yellow, blue and orange.

Rocket engines are provided through multiple engine manufacturers who serve as technology partners to the League, augmenting its own staff in the primary technology areas of airframe, avionics and engine integration. Currently the two engine technology partners are Armadillo Aerospace and XCOR Aerospace.
